Sky Chalet Mountain Top Lodge is approximately less than 2 hours from Washington, D.C. and 3 hours from Richmond, VA., and only 12 miles off of Interstate 81.
Although Route 263 (the main road that the lodge is on) is mountainous and windy, the road is hardtopped and has two lanes, and is one of the first roads to be cleared when it snows.
Guests enjoy the picturesque scenery that winds back to the entrance of Sky Chalet Lane. Once on the wooded Sky Chalet Lane, beware - as the views of the mountains on both sides will be amazing.
 Driving Directions
Interstate 81. Exit # 273. (Mt. Jackson/Basye exit).
Turn east off of ramp.
Cross railroad tracks and come to stop sign.
At stop sign, turn south (right) on to Route 11 (Old Valley Pike).
Travel thru main street of Mt. Jackson.
Turn west (right) on to Route 263 (Orkney Grade).
Go approximately 10 miles.
Turn right on to Sky Chalet Lane.
You are at Sky Chalet Mountain Top Lodge.
IMPORTANT ! CHECK - IN INFORMATION:
After following the above directions, and you are on Sky Chalet Lane:
Just before the first and largest building, you will see a small outside wooden structure (not a building) with a hinged window. There will be an envelope with your name on it there. Inside the envelope will be information on how to get to your accommodation in the Treetop Lodge.
This insures that you will be able to check into your accommodation without delay, as sometimes the innkeepers are out doing one of the many errands that an inn and/or family requires.
If you arrive and there is no envelope there, this means either:
(a) It is too early, and the other guests are still occupying the accommodation OR
(b) The accommodation has not been cleaned yet and is therefore, not ready yet.
